Betty is a professional actress and English Language teacher. She has an MA in Foreign Languages from the University of Venice and trained both in Commedia dell’Arte in Venice and in physical theatre in Bonn and in London. She has participated in drama workshops led by Yoshi Oida, Emma Dante and Gabriele Lavia, and worked for the prominent director Gianfranco De Bosio at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan.
She has been performing in theatre since 2003, and since 2010 she has been teaching English, using storytelling and drama.
She has frequently collaborated with Break Theatre in Italy, performing English language theatre and leading storytelling and English workshops in Italian schools.
She lives in Venice, where for the last 10 years she has worked with Alberta Toninato in various Goldoni and Shakespeare productions. In 2019 she performed in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with Arlecchino Torn in Three, a devilishly fast-paced and bilingual version of Goldoni’s masterpiece The Servant of Two Masters, directed by Alberta Toninato. In 2024 she performed in the Camden Fringe Festival (London) with Arlecchino & Felicity or Romeo and Juliet Unchained, a bilingual show where Commedia dell’Arte meets Shakespeare.
She has also worked for the Venice Shakespeare Company. (Much Ado About Nothing in 2018; Othello in 2022).
